Solomon Named KDKA Extra Effort Award Winner

Deer Lakes High School senior, Josh Solomon, was honored during a recent assembly, when KDKA Sportscaster Bob Pompeani visited the school to present him with the coveted KDKA Extra Effort Award. Congratulations to Deer Lakes senior Josh Solomon, son of Frederick and Mary Solomon, who was recognized by KDKA-TV | CBS Pittsburgh as the Allegheny Health Network Extra Effort Award winner on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

The three-sport standout captains the Lancers football, boys basketball and boys volleyball teams. Solomon also carries a 4.5 GPA and scored an astounding 1560 on his SAT. Additionally, Josh is the president of the math and robotics clubs. After graduation Josh plans to major in engineering at a yet unnamed university.

Bob Pompeani was on hand to present Josh with a check for $200 on behalf of Allegheny Health Network. The segment aired on the Feb. 22, 2017 on the KDKA six o’clock news and can be viewed in its entirety at:
