Music for Marco was a Huge Success

Tempt this town with a good time and a good cause and great things happen!!

On January 27th Music for Marco was held at West Deer 1 VFD (which was generously donated by the members). “Mighty” Marco Mangieri is a 3-year-old super hero battling a villain called Leukemia. The night was organized to support him, and his sidekicks his mom and dad Katie and Mike Mangieri.

The night was filled with laughter and good times with a few grateful tears in between. We knew the night was going to be a success, but it exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds.
There were 3 live bands (Kash Acoustics, MSR and Fiddler Dave Cook, and Mary Lou Scherder), a Chinese auction with over 85 baskets, 50/50, games, food and more. The hall was packed with a community ready to help and have fun.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making this night the victory that it was but there were so many people it would take the whole Town Flyer and then some to list them all, but we wanted to say Thank You!!!

First and foremost, you as a community, who are the heart and soul of this area, were the driving force.  So many donations in the form of gift cards, baskets, money, and food were gathered in great numbers. Everywhere we looked someone wanted to donate. We weren’t even soliciting and people were offering one thing or another. This was a definite reminder, if you had any doubt, there is a lot more good than bad in this world…sometimes you just have to look for it.

A great big thank you to these businesses: West Deer #1 VFD and its members, Sabika -TerriAnne Barker, Roden and Fields, Thirty-One-Kelly Heckert, Dr. Bosak-Bosak Eye Care and Optical, East Union Intermediate Center Staff and Faculty, Curtisville Primary Staff and Faculty, Deer Lakes Middle Staff and Faculty , Deer Lakes High School Staff and Faculty, Wildwood Golf Club, Salt power yoga, Caruso chiropractic, A Touch of Heaven Massage, The Joint Chiropractic, Trulew Jewels, Three Rivers Glass, Mish Farms Meat Market, Tatonis Restaurant, Burgers on 8, Zotollas, River Valley Veterinary, Doggie Dos, 380 Auction, Wildlife Lanes, Steel City Supply, Speckled Hen, The Owls Club , Deer Lakes Bowl, Autumn Lilly Floral, MC Enterprises, Zrebney’s Pizza, Cloud 9 Massage, Sports Clips Route 8, Juice Plus, Nesbitts Bowl, Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh Zoo, Popeyes, Sam’s Club, Tastefully Simple, Nadia Nee, Kash Acoustics, MSR and Fiddler Dave Cook, and Mary Lou Scherder.

The Mangieri Family and the Fundraisng Crew wanted
to also recognize an act of kindness from Fox’s Pizza.

As a lot of you know, recently there was a fundraiser held for Marco Mangieri. We started advertising by asking local businesses to hang flyers in their stores. Almost everyone had a positive response and hung theirs right away. As the time got closer for the event we went back to collect ticket stubs from those businesses that sold tickets. Fox’s Pizza in Russellton was one of those businesses, the owner Chad, had already committed to generously donating pizza to this event. He wanted us to know as he pointed to the tip jar on the counter that the workers, once they found out about our event had started saving their tips for Marco.

They had a goal of making it to $500 by the night of the event, which they met and exceeded by donating $502. It’s not very often that the good news is shared but this is something that we as a community should be aware of, and proud to know we have such generous people in our town. Thank you to the workers of Fox’s and the community of West Deer for making Marcos night a success!!

Thanks again! To all of the families and individuals who donated, attended, and that continue to pray.

Much love from the Mangieri Family and the Fundraising Crew.
