Deer Lakes School District Announces
2018 Distinguished Alumni Honorees

Deer Lakes School District takes great pleasure in announcing that five former Deer Lakes, West Deer and East Deer/Frazer graduates have been selected to receive the seventh annual Deer Lakes School District 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award.

The purpose of the Distinguished Alumni Award is to identify, recognize, celebrate, and honor those alumni who have distinguished themselves in academics, the arts, public service, professional contributions, or athletics at the collegiate or professional level and who, in so doing, have contributed to the pride and prestige of the Deer Lakes School District.

This year’s honorees include:

Dr. Bruce Kelly
East Deer – Frazer High School  — Class of 1969

Mr. Dennis Martinez
Deer Lakes High School — Class of 1970

Mr. Leo Mierzejek
West Deer High School — Class of 1947

Dr. Robert F. Pacek
East Deer High School — Class of 1953

Mr. Vincent Taliani
West Deer High School — Class of 1947

A panel of eight judges, comprising administrators, individuals from the community at-large, former inductees, school board members, and high school student representatives selected five honorees from nineteen nominations. The honorees were selected on the basis of outstanding contributions made in their chosen professions.

They will be recognized at the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Dinner and Induction Ceremony on Saturday, May 12. Dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. followed by the induction ceremony at 6:00 p.m. at Deer Lakes High School, 163 East Union Road, (West Deer Township) Cheswick, PA 15024.
The Distinguished Alumni event is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person and include dinner and the induction ceremony. Deadline for reservations is Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
