Improvements for 2016

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, District 3 Council Member Ed Kress, William McKain, Allegheny County Manager and Clarence Hopson, Deputy Director Allegheny Parks Department toured Deer Lakes Park today with staff from the Parks Department and Facilities Management to view the upgrades and improvements made to the park as a result of the funds received from the off-site gas extraction contract. Some projects are complete, some underway and others planned to be completed before the Spring at which time there will be ribbon cuttings and events planned. New Exercise Equipment at Deer Lakes Park

Workers finish installation of exercise equipment at Minnow 2 in Deer Lakes Park. The new outdoor exercise equipment includes ellipticals, arm and leg press combos, knee raise dip combos, and air strides.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day services were conducted by the Veterans of the West Deer William Fish American Legion Post 593 and members of the Sons of the American Legion.
During the service at the West Deer-William Fish American Legion Post 593, members presented two Karen Bizyak Scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each. Also a $250 Jimmy Switalski Military Award will be presented to a person entering a branch of the Armed Forces. A luncheon was served after the ceremony at the Legion Post for members and guests. West Deer Alumni Resumes Monthly Luncheons

West Deer Alumni members enjoyed their annual “Spring Break” get-together on March 31, resuming their regular last-Thursday-of-the-month luncheons at the American Legion in Superior.

Dan Angeloni Honored

The Deer Lakes Board of School Directors honored former district teacher and guidance counselor Daniel A. Angeloni at its March 8, 2016 agenda meeting. He was presented with a plaque to commemorate his years of service to the district.
